In an official statement from the Apex Legends twitter page, they have announced three more additional online tournaments that will be held in place of the PGL Bucharest Premier event. Each tournament will have a $100k prize pool distributed through all included regions of the Apex Legends Global Series.
The tournaments are scheduled to fill the months of April and May, with Online Tournament #3 taking place April 4 & 6. Tournament #4 is scheduled for the second half of April, on the 18th & 20th. The final two tournaments that will be held in May will follow a similar pattern schedule wise compared to April. Online Tournament #5 will take place on May 2nd and 4th, and registration will open up on the 21st of April. Online Tournament #6 will follow suit in the second half of the month on May 30th and June 1st, with registration available on the 19th of May
All of these tournaments will give out a total $100k prize pool, as well as award a non-specified amount of ALGS points to the top 10 finishers in North America and Europe. The top 5 finishers in all other minor regions will be awarded ALGS points along with a smaller top prize compared to that of Europe and North America.
With this announcement, EA and Respawn seem to be committed to keeping the competitive player base up and running over the coming months. It has been a struggle for most as offline events have been cancelled. The move to online tournaments has shown a needed boost of support from the developers to the players.
Competition is sure to heat up as we edge closer to the end of the year. Will TSM continue their dominant run over North America? Who will we see step up in Europe to claim the top spot in what some say is the most competitive region? All these questions will without a doubt be answered over the next couple months.
